Memphis Elvis Style
The book that launched the tours.
The renovated Overton Park Shell is now hosting live music again. This
is where Elvis wiggled and the girls screamed for the first time. Today
the Shell looks closer to its original appearance.
We describe over 125 places in Memphis, great and
small, that had a part in Elvis Presley's story. Many
were no longer standing in 1997, and we could only
describe what was once there. Now, more the eleven
years later, even more places have changed. But
the history of Elvis Presley, has not changed. The
information we gathered here is valid today. Today
I describe many of these places in my Artsmagic
DVD of Memphis and my physical tour of Elvis'
favorite city.

Memphis Elvis Style.
Elvis graduated from Humes in 1953,
and it is the only school that he
attended in Memphis.
Below and in my other photo pages, are Memphis places
important to Elvis' life.
Main and Beale Street at Main then
Beale Street at Main today
This is the second Elvis Statue to be placed on
Beale Street in Memphis. The statue is placed on
Beale, near the location of the old House of Blues
Record shop. To see photos and more of Elvis'
Beale Street, follow this link.
In this photograph from the 1940's, you are
looking at Beale Street near the corner of Main.
Pay attention to the sign on the right side of the
photo. Is it entrance to the House of Blues
Record Shop, a favorite stop for Elvis, Dewey,
and other musicians of the era.
